In 1990, Kenneth Holmes was convicted of the kidnapping, felonious assault, and attempted rape of a female prison employee. The attack was premeditated and extraordinarily vicious. On September 12, 1990, Holmes was sentenced to prison for a period of fifteen to twenty-five years for the kidnapping, ten to fifteen years for the felonious assault, and ten to fifteen years for the attempted rape. All sentences imposed were to be served as actual incarceration and were run concurrently with each other, but consecutive to any other sentences. At the time of the incident, Kenneth Holmes was already incarcerated for aggravated murder and rape out of Henry County, Ohio.
Mr. Holmes was designated as a sexual predator in June 1999. Mr. Holmes has demonstrated that even while incarcerated for a violent offense, he continues to pose a significant risk to the health and safety of others.
