Michael D Pardon
A401386

On March 24, 2000, Mr. Pardon was working at an auto parts factory located in Franklin Township, Warren County, Ohio. His wife was also employed at this factory, but was working a different shift. It was on this day that Michael Pardon learned that his wife was having an affair with a co-worker. After hearing this news, Pardon drove to his home, retrieved a loaded handgun, and returned to the factory. Upon arriving at the factory, Pardon proceeded to fire several shots; one struck and killed his wife; another struck and injured a co-worker; and another shot was aimed at the co-worker alleged to be having the affair but ultimately missed. In total, Pardon fired eight total shots. Immediately after the incident, Pardon attempted to flee the scene but was detained by another co-worker until the police arrived. In April of 2000, Pardon was indicted for aggravated murder with a firearm specification and two counts of attempted murder with firearm specifications. In August of 2000, four days before the jury trial was scheduled to begin, Pardon entered a plea of guilty to lesser charges of murder with a firearm specification and two counts of attempted murder with firearm specifications.
