On July 29, 1995, while incarcerated at the Lebanon Correctional Institution, Frank Dunaway stabbed a fellow inmate four times. The victim fled from the attack and jumped from a stairwell to escape Dunaway. In addition to the stab wounds inflicted by Dunaway, the victim suffered a fractured ankle, bruising, and required hospitalization for his injuries. Following the attack, Dunaway was indicted and later found guilty of aggravated assault (with a specification). Dunaway received a three-to-five-year prison term to be served consecutively to any prison sentence that he was serving as of September 18, 1996. At the time of this offense, Dunaway was serving sentences from Cuyahoga County for involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and attempted rape. Since our conviction, Dunaway appears to have been convicted of possessing a deadly weapon while under detention in June 2011.
